Espetus Churrascaria Review & Summary:

At Espetus, you’ll enjoy a 14 course meal!!! Yes, you heard correctly…. 14 course meal, but thats not even the big news of the day! The kicker is, is that 13 of your 14 courses are ALL MEAT! Oh yeah! Fourteen different types of meat are typically available nightly including filet mignon, sirloin steak, garlic sirloin, top sirloin, flap steak, beef ribs, pork tenderloin, pork loin with parmesan cheese, home-made pork sausage, chicken legs, chicken breast wrapped in bacon, chicken hearts, lamb, grilled shrimp; slowly roasted to create a succulent taste and texture. They’re all cooked with Brazillian flair. At this restaurant, you totally control the pace of your experience with a small green and red-sided circular chip on the table. The green side “Yes, please” signals the “Gauchos” chefs to serve, while the red side “No, thank you” stops the service (for those of you who wear down prior to 14 courses!). Don’t worry, you can take a break and continue to Brazillian goodness simply by displaying the green side again. The prix-fixe menu is offered on a set based on their nightly selections and includes a sumptuous Brazilian inspired salad and hot plate bar featuring rice, beans, and a variety of side dishes, plus many vegetarians selections too. Dessert is served a la carte. I ran into this place on a Saturday night out with friends in the city when we asked a local bus driver where to eat with an awesome atmosphere. The man told us about this place with great atmosphere called Espetus (located centrally on Market and Gough), and he said don’t go there unless you are really hungry! We knew right then where dinner was gonna be. I highly recommend you visit the next time you’re in San Francisco. Dinners are about $50 – $75 per head, and try to make a reservation first. Plan to be there about 2 hours for the whole experience…. if you can!

Bandera Review & Summary:

Bandera Restaurant is a small chain of quality restaurants specializing in Spanish/American style cuisine with 1 location in California. We’re lucky enough to have that location in Sacramento. Bandera is in my top ten restaurants because of the great ambiance (dimly lit and full of deep rich colors), top quality food and flavors, and affordable prices. This would be a great place for a date. The staff are always on top of their game and are very courteous and attentive!
Be sure that when you plan to visit Bandera, that you get a reservation as this place packs in every single night. Wait times can be very long (this tells you its a great place to be). The bar is very nice and placed in the middle of the restaurant, and from this location, you can also watch the chefs prepare the meals in the back part of the restaurant. This made for great conversation as we watched all sorts of great food get served. As for the food, everything we ordered was flavorful, terrific, and without flaw. You’ll find each meat entree cooked to perfection, including my favorites of roasted chicken, steak and enchilada patter, and the beef ribs. Even with all that, the “star” of the Bandera menu, is one of their appetizers… its the Jalapeno, cheese, skillet cornbread! Let me tell you, this isn’t your grandma’s cornbread! This is the moistest, flavorful cornbread ever! Its a must try…. My recommendation is to make your next special night out at Bandera!

Chicago Fire Review & Summary:

I’ve first gotta say that I’m a die-hard pizza fanatic. So when someone asks me what my favorite pizza place is, its hard to say. It’s kind of like picking which child is your favorite? You can’t! But, in this case, I can undoubtedly say that Chicago Fire sits atop of the Sacramento pizza world! So, after a insider recommendation to try this place out, I had to try a couple of the locations! We started at the Folsom location on a Saturday night. Yes, the place was packed (this is what I would expect) and the parking in the old town Folsom area isn’t the easiest to navigate, but all in all, the logistics of making in there and gettting a seat wasn’t bad. With the great smells coming from the kitchen area, our mouths watered for that flavor that you can only get in Chicago! Now this place isn’t boasting a “huge” menu. I think they’ve done right by keeping the menu short and sweet. The menu consists of a limited number of appetizers, salads, desserts, drinks (including libations), and the main course.. Pizza! Although they do serve thin crust pizza, I came here for the deep dish. Its done just like in Chicago, with the full flaky crust setting high around the pan. Next is the cheese, THEN the toppings and sauce. Because this is a big pie, it’ll take a good 30+ minutes prior to digging in once you order. On this trip, I enjoyed the Chicago Fire Combo, and started things off with an “over the top” baked artichoke! If you love artichokes, I guarantee this will be the best one you’ve ever ate! …back to the pizza… Once your pizza arrives, you’ll find flavorful, gormet quality, pizza goodness! Each bite fills your mouth with the flavors of old school Chicago. This pizza left me wanting more and more, yet I had to take some home because it was so big! I do indeed love the Folsom location. The ambiance is great, the service was very pleasing, and the food/drinks absolutely hit the spot! Finally, I visited the Sacramento location on J Street. This time I ordered the stuffed pizza, and I found that same quality in all the ingredients, and true consistency with their pies (unlike chain restaurants), so rest assured that which ever location you choose, it’ll be a good choice! I also can’t forget to plug the Roseville location too, which I’ll be at soon! Make sure to visit back to Tony Eats Sacramento after you’ve tried this place to let me know what you think!

Morton’s, The Steakhouse Restaurant Review & Summary:

Morton’s The Steakhouse, is the nation’s premier steakhouse group which specializes in classic, hearty fare, serving generous portions of USDA prime aged beef. As well, they have fresh fish, lobster and chicken entrees. Morton’s is famous for its animated signature tableside menu presentation: steaks, whole Maine lobsters and other main course selections, along with fresh vegetables, are presented on a cart rolled to your table, where the server displays and describes each menu item in appetizing and entertaining detail (How great is this!). The menu, which is the same at all locations, features a variety of favorite cuts, including a 24 ounce house specialty porterhouse, a 20 ounce New York sirloin and a 14 ounce double cut filet. If you’re into top cuts and quality of meat, this is the place for you! Morton’s also features a double cut Prime Rib, served bone-in and roasted to perfection, but beause its limited availability, I suggest you reserve your order when making a reservation. Morton’s is simply another one of those places that you “can’t go wrong” with on a Friday night!

Scott’s Seafood on the River Review & Summary:

Everyone loves Scott’s Seafood. Well, Scott’s Seafood’s newest loction on the Sacramento River at Le Rivage Hotel is awesome. Not only can you drive there, but you can pull up on your boat! Scott’s has a gorgeous dining room and offers a great view of the river from anywhere you are seated. They even serve breakfast as well as lunch or dinner… With the gentle Delta breezes on a summer evening, this is top “dining al fresco” in Sacramento. Scott’s hits on all levels: the food, service, and ambiance all make for an unforgettable experience. I recommend you plan a special occasion, meeting or night on the town and turn it into an overnight getaway at Le Rivage Hotel… and don’t let me forget to tell you that they have onsite spa services!!! Great stuff everyone.

Bistro 33 Restaurant Review & Summary:

Bistro 33 is a hip place to dine, but it is still a destination for everyone. The Davis loction is a cultural experience that infuses exquisite Pacific Northwest-inspired cuisine with a sense of history. I would recommend you order the famous panini or a wood-fired pizza. This place has amazing atmosphere which includes a patio, bar, or “burning rock” fireplace setting. Bistro 33 in Davis isn’t just a restaurant, but the historic city hall building has also been renovated into a state-of-the-art event center that can be used for birthday parties, small conferences, mid-sized cocktail parties and dinners, even wedding ceremonies with several hundreds of people! This is a “must visit” the next time you are in Davis.

Boulevard Bistro Restaurant Review & Summary:

Boulevard Bistro has lived up to its reputation and is now my favorite upscale Elk Grove restaurant. Both the warm, friendly and professional wait staff and the food were wonderful. The ambiance is quiet but friendly with superior service. On this night, the mushroom appetizer was delectible with a rich deep flavor and fabulous sauce that was so smooth. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the blue cheese filet mignon melted in the mouth. I highly recommend Boulevard Bistro for any special occasion or as a special treat to yourself.

The Broiler Steakhouse Restaurant Review & Summary:

OK… So it seems as if I review every steakhouse in sight… I do… but, this one is different, and I’m glad I ran into it. The Broiler is downtown near the K Street mall next to the IMAX theatre. This place has an “old school” feeling to it. Relax in the privacy of a high-back booth or a table overlooking the K St Mall and enjoy contemporary culinary renditions of traditional favorites; fresh fish, Prawns, Lobster, duck and chicken specialties and of course, some awesome hand cut Steak choices featuring the best beef available.

Crepeville Review & Summary:

If you love breakfast, you’ll love Crepeville. This is one of my favorites and I’m excited to tell you about it. First, don’t just think “breakfast” when you hear crepes (even though I said it). This place will stuff ANYTHING inside a crepe or omlet! From sweet to savory and more. The menu can be pretty overwhelming for your first visit becuase it is so robust. Weather you order a Crepeville crepe creation that you see on the menu or create your own custom crepe, all of the orders come with a side of smothered potatoes (simlar to a hash)… Ooooh its so good! The only 2 downfalls of this place are 1) The parking blows. There just isn’t much parking becuase everyone rides bikes in Davis so you spend plenty of time looking for parking in the bustling downtown streets, and 2) They only accept cash! What? Really? Ok… just have a pocket full of money or stop by an ATM on the way. It’ll all be worth it when you put down your first bite of pure tastiness!
